House: Season 6, Episode 1

house md series 6

When they're called away to a disaster, House has to treat a woman who is trapped and may require amputation. His own feelings about his disability rise straight to the surface and he makes a serious effort to get through to Cuddy, but she rebufs him outright. However, when push comes to shove, House makes the right call again and convinces the trapped woman to agree to an amputation by admitting his choice to keep his leg caused him nothing but pain and loneliness. When the woman dies nevertheless, House tries to turn back to Vicodin and instead finds Cuddy, who has broken it off with Lucas and admits she loves him. After finally realizing that his Vicodin habit is distorting his view of reality, House voluntarily enters Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital to detox.

Production team

Dr. Nolan agrees to write a recommendation to reinstate House's medical license only if House agrees to further treatment. When House is moved to a new ward in the hospital, he develops a close relationship with his new roommate, Alvie (Lin-Manuel Miranda), and Lydia (Franka Potente), a frequent visitor who helps House bend the rules. But when devastating events ensue, House is humbled into reluctantly accepting help. After a delusional patient jumps off of a building, House decides that he needs to face himself and accept treatment from Dr. Nolan. He kisses Lydia at a party, Dr. Nolan helps him figure out what the kiss meant. After a catatonic patient, Lydia's sister-in-law, is cured, Lydia and her family decide to move to Arizona.

The brain also pressed against his pituitary, causing the other symptoms. However, Ted suddenly has what appears to be a stroke. However, his pupils remain responsive and he responds to questions, although with slurred speech. The fiancée asks why Ted is getting an EEG, but Thirteen tells her to ask Ted.

Main characters

House orders fludrocortisone as mononucleosis is a cause. Thirteen goes to see the patient and asks him how he gave up being gay. She realizes he's been through a 'treatment' - conversion therapy, which constitutes giving him emetics while he watches gay porn. He wasn't told which one of the many emetics available was given to him. When that didn't work, they injected him with male hormones and used electroconvulsive therapy.

Meanwhile, Chase is haunted by his actions in the Dibala case. The team treats a controversial African politician named Dibala (James Earl Jones) who has fallen ill while coming to America to give a speech at the United Nations. Meanwhile, Wilson tries to make amends with a feuding neighbor. Fearing a planned genocide, Chase purposely mixes up the blood tests with that of a body in the morgue, causing Dibala to be treated for the wrong illness.

Making a medical mystery meant delving into both genres

When she arrives, House leaves, but gives Taub a Friday night alibi, a ceramics class, and invites his wife to come along. As a condition of his release, House moves in with Wilson. Wilson encourages him to explore a relationship with Cuddy, and House decides to try.

As his fiancée (Eva Amurri) tries to get answers to her many questions, a frustrated team winnows down the possibilities. Meanwhile, House spends extracurricular time with his Princeton Plainsboro colleagues, performing a karaoke rendition of a Gladys Knight & the Pips classic with Foreman and Chase. When his episodes aired in 2009, Miranda had already created the award-winning musical In the Heights, but his biggest breakout hit — Founding Father rap musical Hamilton — was still ahead of him. He'd debuted a short concept version at the White House only a few months before. But while the show has become a part of television history, it's far from a dusty relic.

Wilson asks if House had fun, and he said he realized Chase and Foreman could be his friends, but then he sobered up. When Wilson starts talking about change, House realizes something. House thinks he's faking again, but Foreman has found a pleural effusion. However, House wonders why the other two symptoms went away on their own without treatment if they were real.

Luckily, House is dead to the world in bed, although he starts getting up. He finds himself mysteriously in a young boy's bedroom. He next finds himself in the hands of police asking Wilson if they know him.

However, detoxing turns out to be the easy part - House can't get his medical license back until he's willing to admit his problems run deeper. At the same time, he falls in love, but then finds his paramour has no further interest in him. When he turns to his doctor instead of Vicodin for help, Dr. Nolan realizes he's ready to return to the practice of medicine. House and the team rush to treat an ailing college American football star (Da'Vone McDonald) in time for the patient to compete in NFL tryouts.

The fiancée admits that Ted has occasional erectile dysfunction, but Ted thinks that's normal. However, the erectile dysfunction could be a vascular problem. The patient agrees to a test that measures blood flow through the penis.

But when the patient experiences an onslaught of varied and unusual symptoms, the team has trouble reaching a consensus on how to effectively treat him in time. Meanwhile, Foreman's brother Marcus (Orlando Jones) makes a surprise visit to the hospital. A wealthy businessman (Lee Tergesen) brings his son (Tanner Maguire), who is suffering from inexplicable stomach pains, to Princeton Plainsboro and insists on having Dr. House handle the case. The father of the patient believes the karmic penalty of his financial success is that he is victim to personal tragedy, and that the answer to his son's medical mystery lies in a reverse of fate rather than medical treatment.

And we will have quotes from House and his team on character and episode pages. And we have information on the DVDs, books and other merchandise. No longer a world where an idealized doctor has all the answers or a hospital where gurneys race down the hallways, House's focus is on the pharmacological—and the intellectual demands of being a doctor. The trial-and-error of new medicine skillfully expands the show beyond the format of a classic procedural, and at the show's heart, a brilliant but flawed physician is doling out the prescriptions—a fitting symbol for modern medicine.
